Collective Efficacy Making a Difference for Dropout Prevention

The following concept--collective efficacy--the power or capacity to produce a desired effect is a core value of the work we use in dropout prevention.

The following video from Friday's PBS Newshour submitted by Hari Sreenivasan demonstrates the efforts of literally hundreds of Michigan educators and community members to prevent dropout and promote graduation. I couldn't be happier with the light PBS has shown on the efforts of Romeo High School, a school participating in Reaching and Teaching Struggling Learners Initiative, and on the schools engaged in the Superintendent's Dropout Challenge.

Thank you for all of your efforts to make a difference in the lives of Michigan's students.
