Graduation Town is an online electronic learning community dedicated to supporting state, district and building efforts to ensure all students graduate high school college and career ready. This is a place to share, ask, advise, collaborate, teach, learn, network, succeed and overcome. This town was designed by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals in partnership with the Michigan Department of Education. Thank you for downloading the National High School Center’s Early Warning System Tool! We want to share a free, exciting new resource with you: the EWS Community of Practice. Our online interactive community allows you to connect with other EWS users across the country, as well as the Center’s EWS Team. The Community of Practice allows EWS users to discuss best practices for the implementation of the Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS) and use of the EWS Tools, obtain technical or implementation support, and share EWS strategies with other practitioners.
 
To join the EWS Community of Practice: 
  • Navigate to http://community.betterhighschools.org.
  • Complete the “Join and Learn More” form in the upper right corner of the home page.
  • After you register, you will receive a verification email from nhsccommunity@air.org containing your password and additional instructions on accessing the Community of Practice. Our system will automatically send you a message immediately after you register, so please check your spam/junk folder if it does not reach your inbox within a few minutes of registering. If you do not receive it all, please email Marshal Conley for assistance.
  • ​Login to the Community using the password from the verification email.
  • Click the image for the Early Warning Systems group on the community home page and click the “Join” button when you reach the Early Warning Systems home page.

Webinar focused on identifying the various types of school-community partnerships and  recent research on the effects of these partnerships on student achievement and school improvement. The session explored the components that lead to effective school-community partnerships.

The following questions were addressed:

  • What is the definition of school-community partnerships?
  • What do we know from the research about the effects of school-community partnerships on student achievement and school improvement?
  • How are effective school-community partnerships cultivated and sustained?
  • What are the key elements of these partnerships? What resources and infrastructure must be in place for them to succeed
